THIS DOESN'T FOLLOW BEST PRACTICES
Growing up in Rust Belt corn country, there comes a point you plot your escape. You can't drive yet, so you turn to books (and the occasional family trip) to escape. You get hooked on those books. Hormones and car keys later, writing becomes a secret venting space (see: queer repression).
Skipping to Chapter 18 "Senior Year," your Brit Lit teacher lauds your words, after she annihilates your first two papers (you deserved it on that acid trip of a Beowulf analysis). That, combined with IFC films and music videos, fills you with delusions of grander, so you go to university for Creative Writing during the Recession. Your dad gives you an idea slash ultimatum (not that he was paying for school): transfer into the J School for advertising, if you don't get in then return to Denmark (where you were studying abroad) after the holidays for another year of school.
Congrats on making it through that vulnerable second person telling of my professional journey.
Now, I'm here doing creative + writing—after a decade across NY and LA in the advertising industry—conceptualizing and telling brand and human narratives, creating content and experiences, connecting with consumers and the people around me. Thanks, dad.
If you have a good story, need an ear, a business to grow, brand to develop, or need a poem for a crush, reach out anytime.
Ciao for now,
Noah
